Without on-site Lean capabilities, improvements can slide back to old ways and what was gained is lost.
On-Site Lean Capabilities
GCA Production Services holds the gains through a continuing education program for site staff in Lean Engineering and Six Sigma, from introductory to intermediate levels.
We train all on-site supervisors, shift and crew leaders, and managers using third party training firms. Training occurs off site, and much of it is held prior to the start of service. This training ensures we sustain improvements gained from our engineers' Kaizen blitzes.
Additionally, our on-site staff uses their DMAIC skills (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) to implement small improvement efforts of their own, typically in half-day events.
99.7% Completion of Introductory Level Training
All training is documented and employee competence identified at one of four levels; beginner, competent, expert, or trainer. 99.7% of all our supervisory and management staff has completed their Lean Engineering and Six Sigma introductory training.
All training is provided by outside, third party trainers, with curriculum developed from industry sources, including:
- Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)
- Manufacturers Extension Program (MEP)
- Industrial Extension Services (IES), North Carolina State University (a MEP partner)
- University of Houston, Continuing Education Department (a MEP partner)
